VISITS / TRIPS

La Charca de Suárez

On Tuesday (21/ 11/ 2017), we visited the protected area of La Charca de Suárez, where we had a chance to explore some typical Spanish fauna and flora during an guided tour.

La Charca de Suárez is a spectacular place for bird watching and is well equipped for tourist and educational visits. Here you can see birds native to the area as well as species from further afield. The Charca de Suárez is a thirteen-hectare open space located in the valley of the Rio Guadalfeo and is the largest wetland along the Granada coast.

Cueva de Nerja

Then (Tuesday 21/ 11/ 2017) we went by coach to a village named Nerja and took a guided tour of the cave of Cueva de Nerja.

The magnificent Nerja Caves - Cuevas de Nerja - are a series of huge caverns stretching for almost five kilometres and home to the world's largest stalagmite, a 32 metre high column measuring 13 metres by 7 metres at its base. There are three Galleries - Show Gallery, Upper Gallery and New Gallery - with each gallery containing a number of Halls. The Upper Gallery and New Gallery contain many of the prehistoric cave paintings, but tourist access to these areas is limited to special groups.

Costa de Sol

In the end ( still on Tuesday 21/ 11/ 2017we visited the Costa de Sol beach and spent a wonderful relaxing afternoon there.

The Costa del Sol ( "Coast of the Sun" or "Sun Coast") is a region in the south of Spain, in the autonomous communityof Andalusia, comprising the coastal towns and communities along the coastline of the Province of Málaga. The Costa del Sol is situated between two lesser known coastal regions, the Costa de la Luz and the Costa Tropical. Formerly made up only of a series of small fishing settlements, today the region is a world-renowned tourist destination.

Below here, you can see a short film ( made by the Spanish team) from our Tuesday´s trip to La Charca de Suárez, Cuevas de Nerja and Costa de Sol.

ALHAMBRA

The last day's visit (Friday 24/ 11/ 2017) was a visit to the fortress of Alhambra, which is the dominant of Granada.

The Alhambra  is a palace and fortress complex of the Moorish rulers of Granada in southern Spain (known as Al-Andalus when the fortress was constructed during the mid 14th century), occupying a hilly terrace on the southeastern border of the city of Granada.
